The root of all evil!

After digging quite a large area of earth, it was evident why I was aching all over in my bones! Look at this mound of evil....strong roots - some brambles and some ivy and other obnoxious weeds.

Some of those big roots remind me of the children's story - ' The Great Big Enormous Turnip' where the man pulling it out of the ground, needed the help of others as it was soo big!

Sticks and stones!

....and there are enough of these to keep me digging for the rest of the autumn in preparation for spring planting. Phew!

The sun is shining, the sky is blue, there's no guessing, what I'm gonna do! Yep...it's off to the allotment today.

Yes, it's his birthday today and I'm sure he would like to celebrate with starting a few fires! That's his favourite thing to do at the allotment. So, have fun.
